About Rehearsing Compassionate Response

“Those of us who took it [the workshop] definitely had all if not most of those exercises on our minds the next two weeks, at least.”

Crossing the Threshold:

USING ART, THEATER, AND PLAY TO UNLOCK YOUR INNER HERO

In every school, workplace, and community, people are doing their best to show up, support others, and carry more than most ever see. But even the strongest among us reach moments when the work feels heavy, purpose fades, or the path forward becomes unclear. Crossing the Threshold is a creative, movement-based workshop designed to meet people in that in-between space—the moment where something needs to shift, but the next step hasn’t fully revealed itself.

Through a blend of art-making, embodied theater exercises, story circles, and playful exploration, participants tap into the deeper layers of their own stories and strengths. The workshop offers a rare space to pause, reflect, reconnect with meaning, and rediscover the internal resources that support resilience.

This is not a lecture. It’s not a self-help seminar. It’s a hands-on, heart-forward experience where participants move, create, listen, and share in ways that open doors to personal insight and collective support

Rehearsing Compassionate Response

When things get hard, fast, or emotionally charged, we don’t rise to the occasion—we fall back on what we’ve practiced. But most of us have never been given the space to practice responding with compassion, clarity, or grounded presence.
Rehearsing Compassionate Response is a hands-on, scenario-based workshop where participants explore challenging moments with curiosity instead of judgment, building the skills needed to stay steady and connected under pressure.

Through guided role-play, embodied awareness exercises, and group reflection, we rehearse real-world situations—slowly, safely, and with intention. We break down what’s happening inside us, what may be happening for others, and how systems shape our reactions. Participants learn to generate multiple compassionate responses—not just for the people they’re supporting, but for themselves, too.

Because sustainable compassion starts inward. When we offer ourselves understanding, space, and grace, we’re better able to offer the same to our community.

Meeting Your Inner Bully

Internal bully, critical parent, the panel in your head, devil on your shoulder, … soo many names for the voices in our heads that stop us from being who we really want to be.

Who are they and why are they there? Are they us?

Using theatre and physical storytelling tools, come discover this inner critic, and what they have to say. We will create a safe place to bring this bully out, and give them a starring role in their own scene. Are they the misunderstood hero, or the bad guy?

Participants will leave with an expanded toolbox to mindfully find some freedom in moving life in the direction they want.

Multiple lengths available: 90 minutes, 4 hour workshop, or ongoing story development. Contact Diana for more info.

Devised Storytelling

Using research, interviewing, experimentation and collaboration, participants bring their own unique stories, viewpoints and materials on a topic.

We then guide them through an exploration process using movement and elements (such as light, props, music, sound, creative art forms) to discover many ways to tell a story. While these stories MAY end up written on the page, these stories start in our bodies, on our feet, and in our voices.

Think improv meets dance, poetry and wonder.

Great for family stories, team building, corporate story, marketing, writers, anyone wanting to play with story.

Length: 3 - 12 hours, depending on end product.
